Catherine Powers । Photographer

I am a portrait and fine art photographer based in the Washington, D.C. area. Photographs should tell a story. My photography tells the story of the land, the people and the culture of the places that I explore, documenting treasures from our past, as well as telling a visual narrative of the present. I use a blend of photojournalism, editorial and fine art photography, combining composition, color and light to create images that are contemporary and natural. My most recent project is a collection of photographs taken along U.S. 17, the 1,100 mile southern byway that traverses marsh-lined rivers, pristine white beaches, quaint fishing villages, small farms, proud military towns, large cities, and historic communities.

My work has been exhibited at galleries around the Washington, D.C. area, including ArtSpace Herndon, Workhouse Art Center, Art in City Hall, Gallery West, Edison Gallery Place, and the Joseph Miller Center for Photographic Arts, and featured in local newspapers and magazines.
